One Weekend...

.. to go til the End Times.  (With all this CO2 in the atmosphere, will there be less oxygen to breathe?!) O₂ Oxygen Chemical Formula The chemical formula of oxygen also known as dioxygen is  O 2 . This formula is given so because oxygen usually combines with another oxygen by forming a covalent bond. It is also diatomic therefore it needs 2 electrons to complete its octet which it easily gets from another oxygen.

New York is duly invited to Teesside this February! It's also time for Goldman Sachs to set-up a second firm, based up North.  Leeds?  Manchester?  Newcastle?

Hydrogen

The UK and US should invest heavily in Hydrogen Hubs in industrial clusters to begin with.  Powered by renewable energy, these hubs are the way forward. To build (and run) these Hubs, the Oil & Gas industry should be co-opted.

Bank Rate

The Bank of England should increase rates by 25 basis points to 5.5% when it meets tomorrow. Although the economy has contracted slightly in October, inflation still remains stubbornly high and way above the target 2%.

Indian Villages

When I toured India in Spring 2009, I couldn't help but think that the economic model of villages in developing countries has huge potential.  They are, for example, much more sustainable than life in cities and, with good sanitation, access to healthcare & education, and then internet access, could be a great template for twenty-first century living.  Think Global, Live Local!

Not Again!

Emergency Again! Remember, despite Xmas this year being a Green Xmas, we really shouldn't be keeping it at all! The choice is OURS! There WILL be CONSEQUENCES!  Meanwhile, details of the atrocities that innocent Israelis were subjected to on October 7 emerged today.  We can never rest until Hamas is ERADICATED!

Red Robbin

Today, 1 December, marks the start of the meteorological winter.  True to form, we have blanket snow for the first time here in the North. As a wink and a nod to COP28 in Dubai, I plan to practice "hibernating" this winter, i.e. going to bed by 8pm in the hope of saving on energy.  I have already broken that rule on Day 1 - it's 8.20pm now, but my intentions are clear and I will do my best except for late-night calls to Australia! After all, the best way to reduce carbon emissions is not to use energy in the first place.
