St. Patrick's Day

I had a bacon sandwich for breakfast this morning at Cooks at The Forum Gym - breaking yesterday's resolve already (I forgot!).

It may well be the case that, as a result, I will be unable to pay my credit card bills due next 17 March (a week today, on St. Patrick's Day).  I will now be £20 short on the day, assuming I spend my reserve cash of £10 on 2 pints of Guinness to celebrate.

Should I be celebrating St. Patrick's Day?  Although I'm not Irish, St. Patrick was a Saint who kept the Sabbath and Biblical Holy Days.  It may be inappropriate to drink excessively, but I am sure 2 pints will DO NO HARM.

Correction: After some financial juggling, and a commitment to spend no more than £60pw on groceries, coffees, and eating out, I now have a budget of £11 for St. Patrick's Day AFTER paying my credit card dues! 11 is a significant number:  The 11th commandment is to LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR.

However, before you are in a position to love your neighbour, one has to take care of one's own tribe first!

Prayer and Tablets

I pray to God, and He answers by talking back to me through an inner voice.  I draw great comfort from this, knowing for sure than I am not alone. Tonight, I have taken 2 paracetamol tablets on top of my regular medication.  The front part of my forehead hurts, from temple to temple.  It is a dull kind of ache. The final Laodicean Church puts its faith in doctors and medicine above healing from our Creator, God!

Beyond Blue Sky 2025 - Chapter 2b

Climate Sensitivity Quantifying temperature increase in relation to CO2 volume depends on 'climate sensitivity'.  Commonly, this refers to temperature increase resulting from CO2 doubling since the pre-industrial times atmospheric baseline of 280ppm to approx. 550ppm.  The IPCC models predict a range of 2C to 4.5C above 1900, with a best estimate of 3C.  As of June 2024, the world is currently at 427ppm and 1.55C above 1900. Although both temperature and atmosphere water vapor will continue to increase, specific impacts will depend on geographical location.  For example, higher latitudes together with mid-continental locations are expected to warm sooner and faster.  Also, high rainfall areas should get wetter contrasting drier drought-prone regions.  Much modeling is in progress to predict these regional impacts in greater detail, although we mustn't also forget that it is ultimately God who sends the rains.  The challenge of climate change, particula...
